She’s our Director of Operations and in charge of everything that goes on in all of the residential treatment facilities. What Does the Director of Operations Actually Do?
The Director of Operations at Ascend has a ton of responsibilities, and no day is ever the same. Whether it’s meetings with the floor staff at three different facilities or running group sessions for clients, Jaq can be found all over Ascend. She might be checking in with a clinician, reviewing training, facilitating client intakes, or taking a quiet moment in her office answering one billion emails. Jaq is where the buck stops, and she steps in and steps up anywhere that the Ascend team needs a little extra help!
What Inspires Jaq’s Work Ethic
Like a few of our other team members, Jaq has experienced residential treatment for herself. Struggling through recovery had a huge impact on her worldview and inspired her to help others strive for the success she has achieved. Whenever one of our clients is going through a rough time, Jaq can connect with them through shared experiences like almost nobody else can. Due to her training in a variety of positions over years of working with treatment facilities, she has a unique blended perspective that allows her to understand exactly how our clients are struggling.
Whether it was her time as a residential technician, clinical associate, or Director of Operations, she has extensive knowledge that helps her guide and reassure clients on their journey.
Big Wins for Jaq
One of the most important things for Jaq is to feel like her work is actually making a difference, so it’s no surprise that every client she’s worked with so far has maintained their improved mental health after leaving residential treatment. She loves hearing how their life is going outside of our facilities as these clients rediscover their passions and chase their dreams. Many clients stay in touch with her through email and update her on their own version of success!
She also inspires many of our staff to continue caring for our clients post-treatment. Whether it’s a flurry of birthday cards or a coin to commemorate their first year sober, Jaq supports clients even after they leave Ascend.

There are many reasons why Jaq feels that Ascend is the right place for her. The ability to improve someone’s life with a team she can trust is such a rewarding and fulfilling job that Jaq can’t see herself working anywhere else! She works hard to ensure growth and progress in both clients and staff every single day!
Challenges for Jaq
It’s tough being the Director of Operations for three facilities (with more coming soon), so how does Jaq keep up? One of her challenges is prioritizing everything that comes her way, but she gets it done with the power of checklists, delegating, and Google Calendar! Her position as Director is an amazing opportunity to challenge herself to problem-solve from unique perspectives.
